Imagine all the world’s countries sitting around a big table. The little country of Kosovo has its name stitched onto its bib. Kosovo was founded in 2008. Compared to the rest of the nations in the room, it’s just a baby.

Do you see the United States? You might notice that Uncle Sam hasn’t grown his gray beard yet. Founded in 1776, the United States is just a teenager.

Want to see an old country? Look at China. China knocks against the table with its cane. It is almost 5,000 years old!

Chinese people are famous for loving their own history. That makes sense. They have a lot of it! China’s legends, architecture, languages, and religious beliefs seem to stretch back forever. Just look at the Great Wall of China. You can see this 5,500-mile wall from outer space—as long as you have visual aid. You can’t see it with the naked eye. It blends into the landscape too much.

People worked on the wall as far back as the Qin Dynasty. Back then, they used rice flour. That bound the bricks together. You would never see an ancient sight like the Great Wall or the Terracotta Warriors in a country younger than China!
