Have you ever driven past the world’s largest tire? No car is big enough to fit it. A car matching this tire would have to be 200 feet tall!

The Giant Uniroyal Tire has been around since the 1960s. The same people who designed the Empire State Building came up with the idea. At first, people rode in it as a Ferris wheel at the New York World’s Fair. The 80-foot ride drew two million visitors.

Now the tire sits along Interstate 94 outside of Detroit. It has welcomed people to the city for 50 years. Last Wednesday, visitors got to go inside the tire again. They could tell that it used to be a ride. They also saw that concrete held it down. What a tire!
