What would you name this snake? Pearl? Sugar? Cream? How about lightning?

When this deadly albino cobra first showed up in a California neighborhood, people weren’t worried about naming it. They were worried about catching it! Wouldn’t you be?

The cobra was on the loose for several days in September. When authorities finally caught it, it put up a fight. Officers used a long-handled grabber. They hauled the snake into a wooden box.

The animal control officers had to think one step ahead of the snake. Otherwise, they would be bitten. "Once we grabbed it, it was afraid of us so it tried to strike at us," animal control officer Fred Agoopi said. "But we had the proper equipment and were able to handle it."

Now the cobra lives in the San Diego Zoo. Online voters chose its new name. Adhira got the most votes. Adhira means lightning in Hindi.

What do you think about snakes? Are they creepy or cool?
