Imagine you had to carry everything you owned—everywhere you went. That huge suitcase full of your clothes, books, and toys would sure get heavy after a while! You’d want to set it back down at home. But what if you didn’t have a home? Where would you sleep? What would you eat? How would you keep yourself clean?

Homelessness makes people uncomfortable. But it can also make them very, very sick. Homeless people often don’t have soap and water. That means they can’t kill germs. Teens Austin Wright and Sean Haggarty wanted to change that.

The boys worked with an organization called Blessings Under the Bridge. Every year, thousands of homeless people come to a giving event. They take home blankets, boots, and food. There are so many gifts, they can’t carry them! This year Austin and Sean raised money to help. They passed out1,000 hygiene kits. Hygiene kits contain things like toothpaste, hand sanitizer, and antibacterial soap.

There are an estimated 100 million homeless people in the world. About 26 percent of them have diseases like tuberculosis and pneumonia. Would some of them be healthy if they had soap to clean themselves?

Our sinful world is full of sickness. But God has blessed us with tools to stop disease before it happens. Austin and Sean decided to share those tools with people in need. Can you do the same thing? Who will you share with?
