The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra will probably hold the record for “most concerts performed by a vegetable orchestra” for years to come. But musicians shouldn’t be crestfallen. There are other titles to compete for.

Here are some other Guiness World Records orchestras might try to beat and the dates those records were set:

  • Largest double bass ensemble: 338 — Double Bass Aircraft Carrier Orchestra on July 25, 2024
  • Most concerts performed by a symphony orchestra: 14,000 performances in 162 years — the New York Philharmonic on December 18, 2004
  • Longest career as a player for the same orchestra: 71 years, 194 days — Anne Miller of the United Kingdom’s Redhill Sinfonia on June 25, 2022
  • Largest orchestra ever: 8,573 musicians — Venezuela’s National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras on November 13, 2021
  • Longest symphony: 1 hour, 39 minutes — a 1954 BBC broadcast of Havergal Brian’s Symphony No. 2
  • Most symphonic concerts performed by one orchestra in a day: 13 — Stichting Ricciotti Ensemble on May 14, 2011.
