You are most likely a citizen of a country. You might even be a citizen of a kingdom. Yes, there still are kingdoms! If you’re a Christian, you are a citizen of God’s kingdom too. That’s the citizenship that really counts.
As a citizen of an earthly country, you probably have things in common with other citizens around you. You might speak the same language. You obey the same laws. You have the same privileges, like the abilities to work and go to school.
Being part of God’s kingdom is like that, too. All citizens of God’s Kingdom have new hearts. They are expected to talk, act, and think like God. They are expected to follow God’s laws. They have privileges, too—the best in the universe! God will provide for them. He will watch over them, then take them to heaven to live with him forever.
Do you ever feel like you are not at home in this world? That could be because you were made for a heavenly home. You were made to live in a place without sin or suffering. If you trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection, someday you will.
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” —Philippians 3:20
