Pooches plus pullovers equals . . . a parade!
On Saturday, pups strutted their stuff past Buckingham Palace in London, England. The gathering of dogs in Christmas sweaters is a fundraiser. The money goes to dog rescue charities.
About 130 pets came to the parade with their owners. They walked along the wide boulevard that leads to the royal palace.
The best-dressed pets got prizes. Dogs came decked out as Santas and elves. One French bulldog wore a red beret and pink jacket decorated with red bows.
Christmas sweater animal parades have become a tradition in London. And this isn’t the last one. On December 7, corgis will parade. (Corgis were Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite dog breed.) The Hyde Park Sausage Walk will include dachshunds. It will take place on December 15.
It can be wonderful to celebrate silly events around Christmastime. But remember what Advent is really all about. God came into the world as a tiny baby to save us. And one day, He’ll return!
There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing. — 2 Timothy 4:8
