Two men walk down the street. One wears fancy clothes, unlocks his expensive car, and piles his shopping bags into the back seat. The other wears a coat held together with safety pins, a flannel shirt, and a baseball cap. He walks a long way from his car because he doesn’t want to put money in the meter. Which one is the millionaire?

The second one is. Ronald Read is the man with white hair in the left of the picture. He was a janitor and gas station attendant for most of his life. The people around him knew him for his frugal habits. But when Mr. Read died, he donated six million dollars to the local library and hospital! Nobody saw that coming!

Mr. Read became a multimillionaire using the stock market. He didn’t use his wealth to make himself look important. He used it to bless others.

“But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands.” —1 Thessalonians 4:10-11
