Why does that man have so many gingerbread houses in the back of his car? Hold up, mister! It isn’t Christmas yet!

Jon Lovitch is a chef in Manhattan. He built 157 gingerbread houses last year. This year he’s trying to beat his own Guinness record. He plans to make 1,020 new gingerbread houses before Thanksgiving. As he finishes them, he takes them to New York Hall of Science in the Queens.

Mr. Lovitch will need more candy than you could lift— about 700 pounds! Hill village will be complete with houses, trees, a skating rink, a hotel and even an underground subway station. Now that will be something to see!

And you can see it. But you can’t touch it. At least, not yet. For now a plexiglass barrier will stop all curious fingers. But when the show is over, gingerbread for everyone! Mr. Lovitch is especially giving away gingerbread to children with special needs. How’s that for Christmas spirit?
