Watch out—shepherds coming through! And camels . . . and donkeys . . . and angels . . .
The huge crowd gathered in Utah won the Guinness World Record for most live nativity scene participants. They had 1,039 people total! About 50 families helped sew all the costumes.
Jesus was born in a quiet way. Almost no one knew, at the time, that the baby coming into the world was God’s son. But the Utah gatherers are putting on a huge show. Imagine 1,039 people shuffling around in white robes! Everyone must have known about it.
Derral Eves is one of the gathering’s producers. He told the Daily Herald, “We wanted to do it simply to show the world what Christmas is all about. It is not all the presents, but it is about the true gift of Christmas — Jesus Christ."
Not everyone agrees about how Christmas should be celebrated. But one thing is sure. Knowing who Jesus really is matters more than any celebration or shopping! It’s even more important than a huge nativity. Jesus is God’s son. He came to Earth to save sinful people. He grew up, died for our sins, and rose from the dead so we could live. What a miracle!
