See those tiny black ants in the distance? Squint a little. They’re not ants. They’re people. And they’re climbing up a chimney. One is an old man. Another is a little boy. You’re looking at part of the Czech Union of Chimney Climbers. They make sure a chimney gets climbed every single day. Wonder why?Well, it all started when Czechoslovakia was under Communist rule. A teenager named Vladimir Randysek used to look out his window. A huge chimney stood there. He wanted to climb it. That would poke fun at Communist authorities! And one day, he did.Today the climbers union has more than 1,000 members. They aren’t all protesting Communism. But they do like the view from the top.
