Are you getting your dog a Christmas gift this year? Or does that sound plain crazy? Isn’t it too early to be thinking about Christmas, anyway?

Early or not, people all over the United States are making Christmas lists for their dogs. Some of this year’s favorite gifts include “Star Wars” gear for dogs. How would you like to dress your dog up with a headband of Princess Leia’s hairdo? How about teaching him to eat treats out of a Death Star dispenser? Maybe a better question: How would your dog like it?

Among non-Star Wars fans, ugly pet sweaters are gaining popularity. More practical gifts are coming out for old dogs, too. For $159 you can buy a ramp for dogs that are too old to climb out of cars.

And of course there’s the Fetch dog harness. It fits over Fido's chest or back. It holds a small, waterproof camera so you can collect videos of your dog’s daily travels. That, so far, is proving to be the Christmas favorite.

Proverbs 12:10 says that “whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast.” But cutesy or pricey Christmas gifts for dogs might be taking things a little too far. What do you think?
