Happy Mud Day, Michigan!

Workers built a huge mud pool in Westland, Michigan. It took a whole week. When it was finished, it measured 75 by 150 feet. They filled it will 200 tons of dirt. Then they added 20,000 gallons of water. On top of that, it started to rain. That meant only one thing—more mud!

Michigan kids have enjoyed Mud Day for 27 years. On July 7th, kids under 12 got to roll in the mud, do wheelbarrow races, and play limbo. They danced, splashed, jumped, and got absolutely filthy. The girl and boy who piled the most mud possible on themselves got crowned the King and Queen of Mud. At the end of the day, firefighters hosed the dirty kids off. Doesn’t that just make you want to get muddy?
