What if you never had to go to school? Would that feel like a paradise to you? Or would it feel like prison?

Malala Yousafzai is 17 years old. She comes from Pakistan. Two years ago, Malala spoke out about something she believed in. She said that girls have the same right to education as boys do. For that, a Taliban gunman shot her.

British doctors had to operate on Malala. Then they had to operate again. She survived. Now Malala is receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. She is the youngest prizewinner in history.

A man named Kailash Satyarthi of India is sharing Malala’s award. Mr. Satyarthi leads the Global March Against Child Labor. His organizations help children around the world who are forced into slavery. These children can’t go to school. They spend all their time working for powerful companies.

Are you blessed with the freedom to go to school? The chance to study God’s world is one of His greatest kindnesses to us. There is so much to see and learn! Malala and Mr. Satyarthi would probably agree.

Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance. —Proverbs 1:5
