In Liberia, Africa no weddings were allowed. A horrible disease called Ebola was spreading all over the country.

At weddings, guests kiss and hug. That would spread the disease.

More than 2,800 Liberian people died from Ebola this year. But in a town called Monrovia, things are finally getting better. Guess what that means? It’s wedding time! Get the balloons!
But you’ll need more than balloons. You’ll also need buckets of water and bleach. Liberians are used to seeing those buckets everywhere. They wash their hands all the time so they won’t get sick. Things are better in Monrovia. But they aren’t perfect.

Jacquelyn Jackson is one of the many Monrovia brides. She knows that God protected her from the disease. She says, "I just gave God the glory because I am alive."

Does that remind you of a verse in the Bible? In Jeremiah 33, God says He will restore broken places. He says, “there shall be heard again the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.” What are the bride and groom saying? They are saying thank you to God!
