It’s no joke. Boris the polar bear had three teeth pulled at a zoo in Washington state. His teeth were broken and decayed. But you can bet Boris didn’t fit in a normal dentist’s chair! God made polar bears to be big. Boris weighs 880 pounds. He needed a huge, veterinarian table for the surgery.
Boris is one of the oldest polar bears in zoos in North America. He’s 29. Polar bears in the wild only live half that long. Boris has had an exciting life. Before the zoo rescued him in 2002, he was part of a traveling circus. And now—after he eats some soft food and recovers from his surgery—it’s business as usual for Boris.
