Have you ever heard of a hitchhiking robot?

You have now. hitchBOT left Boston on July 17. Its thumb was pointed toward the sky. Its creators plan for it to travel all the way across the United States.

The goofy-looking robot is already a traveler. It took trips in Canada and Europe. On those trips, it went to a comic convention and a wedding. Someone painted its portrait. It even spent a week with a heavy metal band!

hitchBOT relies on people to pick it up, move it, and recharge its battery. But hitchBOT is a great travel buddy. It can talk. It snaps photos everywhere it goes. What will it capture on this trip?
