What does a cat do when it gets tired of a mouse? It goes touchscreen!

Just ask Laura Fritz's cats. When they play with her iPad, the fat cat loses the urge to eat and the scaredy-cat loses his fear.

In cat apps mice, bugs, or laser dots dart across the screen. For cats, that’s all it takes. Cats love things that move. With “Pocket Pond,” cats can follow fish or dragonflies with their paws. “Catzilla” allows kitties to crush monsters. The app “Paint for Cats” allows cats to chase a mouse, then leaves paint splattered where their paws rubbed. Owners can even email their felines’ creations to friends.

A few years ago, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles received a couple of used tablets. The shelter decided to see if any of their homeless cats were hiding inner artists.

Two of them—Pawblo Picasso and Frida Catlo—created abstract art. It looked like fuzzy circles. The organization turned it into sellable notecards. What a surprising new way to take care of God’s creatures!
