“If you have found honey, eat only enough for you.” That’s what Proverbs 25 says about overeating. The writer adds a warning: If you don’t listen, you’ll get sick. But if the writer of Proverbs was talking to Vince the dog, he might have said, “If you have found a pair of boots, don’t eat them at all! You will have to go to the animal hospital.”

But Vince did eat the pair of boots. Can you see the little pieces of them floating around in the x-ray of his belly? Vince ate so many boot parts that his body couldn’t get rid of them. But a veterinarian could—with surgery.

The veterinarian could tell Vince was sick. Animals that have eaten foreign objects vomit, feel tired, and sometimes have no appetite. And if you know dogs, you know that they often eat foreign objects!
